Description

The project seeks to reduce significant GHG emissions from the cocoa value chain through the promotion of appropriate climate-smart production approaches, including technology development, crop intensification and yield improvement, and increasing economic and ecosystem value for farmers by incorporating shade trees in cocoa systems, developing biomass energy products, diversifying production, reaching new markets and implementing innovative financial mechanisms, with the aim of building climate resilience for the sector, securing rural livelihoods, contributing to the country's mitigation commitments and supporting national development goals.

Observations

The project includes: (I) A multi-stakeholder platform to ensure the integration of stakeholders and the adoption of a robust MRV framework; (II) Implementation consortia with appropriate management plans and specific targets; (III) Implementation consortia with appropriate management plans and specific targets; and (IV) A multi-stakeholder platform to ensure the integration of stakeholders and the adoption of a robust MRV framework.
