Integration of productive systems as a strategy for climate change mitigation and adaptation

Start Date: 2024
End Date: 2028

Description

This regional project seeks to strengthen the climate resilience and mitigation capacity of livestock systems in Latin America and the Caribbean by integrating trees and forests into traditional livestock farming, known as silvopastoral systems (SPS). The initiative will assess how these systems improve carbon sequestration, soil biodiversity, and production efficiency while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It will also promote scientific cooperation and regional capacity building in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic, generating technical information to support climate change mitigation and adaptation policies.
