Description

Supreme Decree No. 4560 creates the Intervention Program for the Improvement of Pineapple Production for Export and the National Market. This program is part of the policies of productive reactivation, food sovereignty and support for national agricultural production. It will be implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands, with a budget allocated through the Comprehensive Development Fund (FONADIN), in coordination with the National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Innovation (INIAF) and the National Agricultural Health and Food Safety Service. (SENASAG). Pineapple production is projected to increase from 17 to 37 tons per hectare and the export of 3,295 tons of the Pucallpa variety is estimated, in addition to 53,950 tons of fresh fruit sold in the national market. The program strategy includes research, technology development, reduction of agrochemicals, improvement of control mechanisms, plant health, food safety, technical assistance and training, infrastructure reconditioning, pest control and other actions. The aim is to increase production with a vision of competitiveness and sustainability, with an execution period from 2021 to 2025, a budget of 60,368,520 bolivianos and coverage in 14 municipalities of Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and La Paz. Within the program, the project "Strengthening the Production and Marketing of Pineapple for the Internal and External Market in the Tropics of Cochabamba and Yungas of La Paz" seeks to improve the production, harvest and post-harvest of pineapple cultivation, oriented both to the market internal and external. This project has been structured into two components: production and post-harvest, and market. The production and post-harvest component aims to strengthen the production and post-harvest links of pineapple by improving technical capabilities in crop management, renewal with certified genetic material, and adaptation of infrastructure and productive equipment. The focus is to increase production by promoting competitiveness and environmental responsibility, and diversifying production with MD2 varieties for export and Champaca for industrialization. The market component seeks to improve pineapple supply conditions to satisfy the demands of national and international markets, focusing on the articulation of these markets and the development of expansion and competitiveness mechanisms in quality and prices. The initial beneficiaries of the program are the pineapple producers and the municipal governments of the intervention areas,
