Promoting Climate-smart Livestock Management in the Dominican Republic

Fecha de inicio: 01/12/2018
Fecha de fin: 30/11/2022

Description

The project's main objective was to mitigate climate change and restore degraded lands by promoting climate-smart livestock practices. Initiated in 2018 and lasting until 2022, the project focused on implementing practices that would reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increase sustainable productivity in the livestock sector, mainly in the Yuna River basin. It also sought to strengthen institutional and technical capacities for climate-resilient livestock management by implementing pilot farms, developing emissions monitoring strategies, and promoting financial incentives for producers. In addition to reducing GHG emissions on the farms involved, it focused on improving the adaptive capacity of small and medium-sized producers, promoting sustainable management practices, and developing monitoring systems to assess environmental impact.
