Excellence in Agronomy for Sustainable Intensification and Climate Change Adaptation

Start Date: 01/01/2022
End Date: 01/01/2024

Description

The objective of this Initiative is to achieve increased productivity and quality per unit of input (agronomic gain) for millions of smallholder households in priority farming systems by 2030, with an emphasis on women and young farmers, showing measurable impact on food and nutrition security, income, resource use, soil health, climate resilience and climate change mitigation. This objective will be achieved by: Facilitating the delivery of agronomic solutions at scale, including development and technical validation/user experience and co-creation and deployment of gender and youth sensitive solutions for smallholder farmers through partners at scale; Enabling value creation from big data and advanced analytics through data and tool collection and governance; applying existing analytics and solutions to specific use cases; providing information on climate impact, inclusiveness and sustainability of agronomic solutions; and strengthening the capacity of national agricultural research systems; Driving the next generation of agronomic innovations at scale by addressing key knowledge gaps and facilitating innovation in agronomic research through engagement with partners; Fostering internal efficiencies for an agile, demand-driven agronomic research and development community through internal organization and external partnerships for prioritization, demand mapping, and foresight.
