Scaling Up Climate-Smart Transformation of Mexico’s Coffee Landscape

Fecha de inicio: 31/08/2018
Fecha de fin: 31/08/2021

Description

The project focuses on improving the competitiveness of small coffee producers in southern Mexico, specifically in the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca. Its main objective is to improve the competitiveness of these producers through access to advanced coffee production technologies, better decision-making tools through a Producer Information Platform (GIP), and access to high-value markets. The project is composed of three main components. The first is the introduction of new agricultural technologies for small-scale coffee farms, which aims to implement and validate new technologies for coffee seed nurseries in Chiapas and promote optimal agricultural practices for disaggregated farmers in Oaxaca. The second component focuses on strengthening the business and technical capacity of producer organizations, improving management decision-making through a producer information platform in participating cooperatives. The third component seeks to promote access to high-value markets for small farmers in Oaxaca and Chiapas through the creation of local value chains and the use of advanced technologies for quality control and traceability.
