Description

National financial facility designed to strengthen small community-based eco and bio-businesses in the Peruvian Amazon through technical assistance and partly reimbursable grant financing. The initiative addresses barriers to market access and conventional credit faced by enterprises based on the sustainable use of forest resources, including sustainable tourism, wildlife management, forestry and agroforestry products. It provides training, business-plan support and financing to scale sustainable operations while contributing to Amazon forest conservation and reduced emissions from deforestation.

Observations

Green Climate Fund project FP193. The GCF Board approved the project on 20 October 2022. The Funding Activity Agreement was executed on 16 December 2022 and became effective on 10 March 2023. Estimated completion is 10 March 2033 and the official duration is ten years. PROFONANPE is the accredited entity responsible for the project. Total financing amounts to USD 10,000,000: USD 8,972,400 is provided as a Green Climate Fund grant and USD 1,027,600 as co-financing. The project establishes an Eco Bio Business Facility combining technical assistance, enterprise capacity building and partly reimbursable financing for small community-based enterprises that sustainably use Amazon forest resources.
