Description

Intervention by Panama's Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) to support agricultural producers facing the effects of El Niño through the acquisition of machinery, veterinary medicines, livestock supplements and spare parts. As of September 3, 2026, MIDA reported approximately B/. 1.2 million in executed expenditure. Documented livestock inputs include multivitamins, vitamins, protein-enriched mineral salts and medicines intended to support producers and reduce the effects of drought and heat stress on livestock.

The B/. 1,200,000 amount is approximate and corresponds to expenditure officially reported by MIDA as of September 3, 2026. The official sources reviewed do not provide a complete breakdown allowing the amount to be allocated among machinery, medicines, livestock supplements and spare parts. Original currency: Panamanian balboa (PAB). Exchange rate used: 1 PAB per 1 USD, based on the legal parity of the balboa with the U.S. dollar; converted budget: USD 1,200,000. The additional B/. 8.21 million associated with the climate emergency declaration and the B/. 2,305,365 specifically approved for three deep-well drilling rigs are excluded because they correspond to separate budget allocations.
