Description

The National Program to Support Vegetable Production and Marketing was approved through Supreme Decree No. 4560 of August 2, 2021 to increase yields of onion, tomato, carrot, pea and faba bean crops by strengthening technological innovation, phytosanitary management, technical assistance, production support, post-harvest management and marketing in order to generate a permanent supply of vegetables. The Program includes a technological innovation component implemented by the National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Innovation (INIAF), a plant health component implemented by the National Service for Agricultural Health and Food Safety (SENASAG), and production and market support implemented by the Deconcentrated Public Institution Food Sovereignty (IPDSA). Interventions include technology development and transfer, phytosanitary surveillance and control, technical assistance, support to producers and producer organizations, and marketing activities.

Observations

Supreme Decree No. 4560 of August 2, 2021 created the National Program to Support Vegetable Production and Marketing for the 2021-2025 period. The Ministry of Rural Development and Lands 2021 Management Report records a total budget of BOB 111,385,675, distributed as follows: BOB 10,210,687 in 2021; BOB 36,801,026 in 2022; BOB 27,628,216 in 2023; BOB 26,038,146 in 2024; and BOB 10,707,600 in 2025. Conversion to US dollars uses the official selling exchange rate of the Central Bank of Bolivia of BOB 6.96 per USD. Under this methodology, the total budget is USD 16,003,688.94. The Ministry 2024 Final Public Accountability Report identifies the components implemented by IPDSA, SENASAG and INIAF as under implementation during the 2021-2025 period.
