Description

The Rural Development and Modernization Project for the Eastern Region (PRODEMORO) aims to reduce rural poverty in the departments of La Unión, Morazán, San Miguel and Usulután through strategies for human and social capital development, transformation of subsistence economic activities into profitable rural businesses, and rehabilitation of natural resources. The project is implemented through three main components: human and social capital development, rural business development, and rehabilitation and management of natural resources and the environment. Its beneficiaries are 73,000 people living in poverty, including small farmers, microentrepreneurs, artisans and rural youth, with emphasis on the participation of women heads of household.

Observations

The beneficiaries of this project contributed USD 1 million. The total project cost was USD 22.2 million.
