Transition Program towards a Carbon Neutral and Resilient Economy

Start Date: 26/09/2024
End Date: 31/12/2026

Description

The program aims to support the country's transition to a sustainable and resilient economy in the face of climate change. Specific objectives include: accelerating climate planning in sectors and levels of government, strengthening environmental and climate institutions, and promoting regulations that encourage sustainable investments. To this end, the program includes four main components: macroeconomic stability, climate planning, institutional strengthening, and climate investment. The program's activities include the approval of regulatory measures and action plans, such as the Regional and Communal Climate Change Action Plans, as well as regulations that promote the circular economy and waste recovery. At the institutional level, the creation of the Natural Capital Committee and the strengthening of biodiversity legislation are planned. Regarding investments, policies are introduced that facilitate investment in emission reduction projects, such as the green tax and the development of carbon markets.
