Description

The program aims to expand and strengthen the functions of the National Service for Food Health, Safety and Quality (SENASICA) to improve the health, safety and quality of agricultural and food products in Mexico, areas considered to be areas of National Security. The program establishes four main components: Epidemiological Surveillance of Phytosanitary Pests and Diseases, which includes the surveillance of phytosanitary and zoosanitary risks to detect emerging or re-emerging pests and diseases in a timely manner, in order to implement management, suppression, control or eradication actions. Phytosanitary Campaigns, aimed at the phytosanitary service for the prevention, control or eradication of pests and diseases that affect agricultural, livestock and aquaculture production. Food, Aquaculture and Fisheries Safety, which implements contamination risk reduction systems and good practices in agricultural, livestock, aquaculture and fisheries production, as well as in the primary processing of aquaculture and fishery products. Support for Health and Safety, which strengthens the technical, operational and administrative capacity of SENASICA. This component also includes phytosanitary and food safety programs, regional cooperation in phytosanitary matters, strengthening of the Technical Advisory Councils on plant and animal health, and incentives for scientific work and merit in plant or animal health.
