Resilient Water Management Project for Community and Domestic Irrigation

The project seeks to improve the integrated management of water resources in selected basins and increase the resilience of vulnerable rural families in the face of climate variability. The specific objectives of the project are to develop water planning strategies at the basin level, prepare pre-investment studies and detailed technical designs, and build climate resilient infrastructure. In addition, it seeks to strengthen water governance capacity and improve agricultural productivity through technical assistance and training. The project is made up of four main components: water resources planning and pre-investment studies; investments in climate resilient infrastructure, such as community and household irrigation systems, and risk management; strengthening water governance capacity and increasing productivity; and project management, including administration, monitoring and evaluation. Project beneficiaries include watershed management organizations (CMOs) and watershed management units (CMUs), as well as rural families who will benefit from interventions in water management and conservation, irrigation systems and risk management structures. The project is expected to benefit approximately 30,000 families in rural areas of Bolivia, improving their water and food security.
