Fecha de inicio: N/A
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The project in Bocas del Toro aims to develop technologies to increase plantain production by at least 20%, improve soil nutrition, and sustainably manage the pests and diseases that affect this crop. Bioprospecting and molecular diagnostics will be used to identify beneficial microorganisms and plant extracts that contribute to integrated pest and disease management. By the fourth year, we expect to have organic amendments, native plant covers, and native strains of entomopathogenic nematodes, as well as validated technologies for mineral nutrition. In addition, training will be provided and knowledge will be transferred to 400 producers, with a focus on environmentally friendly practices. Direct beneficiaries include producers and their families, technicians, students, and agroindustrialists, while indirect beneficiaries are the consumers who will enjoy a high-quality product throughout the year.
