Fecha de inicio: N/A
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The project aims to address significant problems in cassava and yam cultivation in Panama, especially damage caused by the Cyrtomenus bergi bug in cassava and anthracnose in yam, which seriously affect the marketing and quality of these crops. Pre-technological and technological products will be developed, including the identification of an antagonistic microorganism and the establishment of effective doses of biological products and fertilizers with mycorrhizae, as well as optimized planting techniques. In addition, 20 extensionists are expected to be trained in these technological innovations and an updated technical guide for the integrated management of these technologies is expected to be created. The project will directly benefit producer associations, agroindustries, plant health technicians, and students, thus improving the productivity and sustainability of cassava and yam crops in the provinces of Herrera and Veraguas. Overall, this effort is expected to significantly improve the lives and incomes of the 424 direct and 2120 indirect producers who depend on these crops.
