Description

The project is an initiative led by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia, with the aim of increasing the levels of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services throughout the country. The project encompasses a series of short- and long-term actions and activities, including the update of Colombia's National Inland Wetlands Policy, the implementation of the National Policy to Fight Deforestation, and the delimitation and participatory management of strategic ecosystems. In addition, it focuses on designing and promoting necessary actions to avoid the transformation, degradation, and loss of natural ecosystems, and on implementing national ecosystem monitoring programs. Among its specific activities, the project aims to formulate and implement strategies for the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of ecosystems and ecosystem services, and strengthen community organizations with use, occupation, and tenure agreements in protected areas.
