Description
The policy focus lies on the promotion of comprehensive management of biodiversity and its ecosystem services, seeking to maintain and improve the resilience of the country's socio-ecological systems, both at the national, regional and local levels, and in cross-border settings. This policy is built on the commitment to joint, coordinated and concerted action between the State, the productive sector and civil society, with the objective of conceptually and strategically framing and guiding the efforts and resources towards the conservation of biodiversity at its different levels. the organisation. The PNGIBSE underlines the importance of strengthening participation and governance, recognizing the validity of all actors involved in the management of the territory and promoting a national consensus on the public value of biodiversity and ecosystem services. In addition, it identifies five main drivers of transformation and loss of biodiversity: changes in the use and occupation of the territory, loss of native ecosystems, biological invasions, pollution, and climate change. To address these challenges, it proposes six thematic axes and thirty-six strategic lines that cover everything from conservation and care of nature to co-responsibility in global commitments, thus guiding Colombia towards more sustainable and responsible management of its natural wealth.
