Maize-bean association in the Amazon

22/10/2025
This study evaluates the impact of intercropping maize with native beans on the morphological growth, yield, and nutritional composition of forage intended for silage in the Peruvian Amazon. Treatments between maize monoculture and bean intercropping are compared, as well as different phenological stages (R2, R4, and R5). The results show improvements in protein, fiber, and productive parameters of the forage when intercropped, especially at stage R4 (Alcoser et al., 2025)
