Description

Uruguay is projecting a record maize area for 2026/27, with at least 300,000 hectares for dry grain and up to 400,000 hectares including silage, driven by El Niño, domestic demand, irrigation and technological advances. Production could reach 2.5 to 3 million tonnes, although risks remain from excessive rainfall, diseases and international market conditions.
