Description
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through a survey of 319 agrifood companies in Latin America and the Caribbean, identifies high logistics costs, limited access to financing, and low awareness of public support policies as the main barriers to their growth and competitiveness.
The findings reveal significant gaps: only 47% of firms are aware of support instruments, 83% finance their investments with their own resources, and access to credit is the top policy priority (76%). There is also strong demand for training in market access (67%) and financing (61%), highlighting the need to strengthen policy instruments such as credit, technical assistance, and trade promotion.
