Description
The World Food Programme (WFP) activated anticipatory actions worth US$3.8 million in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador to support more than 75,000 people. These actions are currently being implemented and include messages directed to the population with practical guidance, cash transfers, distribution of staple grains, and monitoring of meteorological stations in response to drought forecasts and a possible El Niño event. It also notes that these interventions are triggered based on meteorological thresholds and can substantially reduce emergency response costs.
