Description

“Blue Economy for Ocean Health and Sustainable Development” is a CAF Impact report that highlights the strategic importance of the maritime and coastal territories of Latin America and the Caribbean for the development of key regional economic activities. It presents the actions of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean – to protect these ecosystems and ensure the long-term conservation of their resources. The document details initiatives promoted by CAF in areas such as the creation and management of marine protected areas, the prevention and control of invasive species, the strengthening of surveillance systems to combat IUU fishing, coral restoration, and the integrated management of sargassum, among others. These interventions contribute to biodiversity conservation, resilience to climate change, and the economic well-being of coastal communities.
