Description

This research assesses how combined pruning and fertilizer management in coffee-based agroforestry systems influence soil microbial respiration, soil pH, and functional bacterial populations. Conducted in the UB Forest, Indonesia, the factorial experiment tested three variables: pruning management, fertilizer type (organic, inorganic, mixed), and application doses. Results show that pruning combined with mixed fertilizer (organic + inorganic) significantly enhances soil respiration and diazotrophic bacterial density, while maintaining favorable pH and microclimatic conditions. The findings indicate that integrating organic and inorganic fertilization with pruning offers an environmentally sustainable management alternative to chemical fertilization, supporting soil fertility and microbial biodiversity.
