Description

Sustainable agriculture intensification faces major challenges: rising competition for water, climate change impacts with greater variability and extreme events, and the need to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while improving water management. This report estimates the size of the research and innovation investment gap in the Global South. Closing this gap could help: bring hunger close to zero by 2030 (SDG2); reduce agricultural GHG emissions in line with SDG13 and a 2°C climate trajectory; and enhance water use efficiency and decrease agricultural water pollution, supporting SDG6.
