Description

Since dairy products are a permanent component of the Salvadoran diet, one of the greatest concerns regarding the sector's situation is the imminent decrease in domestic supply to meet domestic demand. This situation would severely impact El Salvador's food security, since even with an influx of imported products, there is a risk of market shortages. The objective of studying the behavior of the milk value chain is to offer, based on an accurate diagnosis, background information and recommendations that contribute to overcoming the obstacles hindering economic growth for entrepreneurs in the sector. To this end, key players in the sector were consulted, gathering their opinions for the construction of a SWOT analysis that subsequently served as the basis for the creation of recommendations for the government, private enterprise, and higher education institutions, so that they can, within their context, generate actions to boost this economic activity.
