Public Policies for Family Farming in the Expanded Mercosur countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay (2018-2023)
Technical report
20/05/2025
Description
The study carried out by IICA is qualitative and aims to facilitate a descriptive characterization of the public policies selected by each country and not their evaluation. It corroborates, in the first place, the perception that family farming plays a decisive role in the five countries analyzed, from its contribution to food production and to Food and Nutritional Security. The document prioritizes four dimensions of public policies: financing and credit, marketing and public procurement, sustainability and agroecology, and gender equity, defined through a collaborative process between the parties and with the National Sections of the REAF of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
