Sectorial Plan to Address the Arrival of the El Niño Phenomenon in Colombia

The Sectoral Plan to Address the Effects of El Niño has as its main objective to identify possible impacts on productive chains, mitigate the impact on dispersed rural communities, and establish an action plan for response and recovery, with the coordination of the entities affiliated and linked to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Some of the actions that are already being implemented include the delivery of drought-resistant seeds, the installation of water storage systems, the adaptation of spaces to store nutritional blocks for livestock, and vaccination campaigns for animals. Thirty-five indigenous communities in six municipalities of La Guajira and two in Cesar benefited from this package of measures.
