Opportunities and challenges of the bioeconomy (ODBio)

Fecha de inicio: 31/12/2020
Fecha de fin: 31/12/2024

Description

Recognizing the opportunity to move to a low-carbon economy allied to sustainable development, Brazil contributed to the adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement and established national targets for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. National strategies should naturally reflect the international commitments undertaken. As a country of continental dimensions and with great availability of renewable natural resources, Brazil has a high potential to base its development and strategic insertion in the global scenario on the growth of a modern bioeconomy. Science, technology and innovation (ST&I) are key elements for sustainable development and the transition to a low-carbon economy. The country has a Bioeconomy Science, Technology and Innovation Action Plan and needs to outline strategies for its implementation. In this sense, the Opportunities and Challenges of the Bioeconomy (ODBio) project, developed by CGEE in conjunction with the General Coordination of Bioeconomy of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), aims to subsidize strategies for the implementation of CT&I policies, based on mission-oriented structuring projects, capable of promoting the development of the bioeconomy.
