Revaluation of Forgotten Andean Crops: Lupinus as a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

Fecha de inicio: 01/01/2014
Fecha de fin: 31/12/2017

Description

The project aimed to promote the development of technological innovations to enhance the resilience of productive systems through the integration of lupine, thereby contributing to the improvement of farmers' livelihoods. The project consisted of the following components: 1) Increase in productivity of the production system, 2) Promotion of local use and consumption of lupine for balanced nutrition, 3) Development of post-harvest techniques and access to new local and national markets, and 4) Project management through the Innovation Platform. In Bolivia, technologies were generated to improve the productivity of L. mutabilis, L. albus, and L. angustifolius in semi-arid Andean regions. Post-harvest technologies were also developed and validated. In Ecuador, the effectiveness of fungicides for controlling anthracnose in L. mutabilis under different agro-ecological conditions of the highlands was validated. In Chile, the performance of three species of lupine of Mediterranean origin was evaluated in four locations in southern Chile.
