Fecha de inicio: 01/08/2016
Fecha de fin: 31/12/2020

Description

The Climate-Smart Livestock Project (GCI), an initiative implemented by the Ministry of Environment (MAE), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP), with technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), began in August 2016. The objective of the project is to reduce land degradation, increase adaptive capacity to climate change and reduce GHG emissions through the implementation of cross-sectoral policies and sustainable livestock farming techniques, with particular attention to vulnerable provinces. The project is made up of four components: a. Component 1: Strengthening of coordination and institutional capacities, to incorporate the ICM approach in land management and in the development of livestock instruments and policies; b. Component 2: Strategies for technology transfer, dissemination and implementation for ICM; c. Component 3: Monitoring of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adaptive capacity in the livestock sector; d. Component 4: Project administration, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management.
