Forestry NAMA: Strategic Framework for Forest Landscape Restoration

Fecha de inicio: 01/01/2019
Fecha de fin: 01/01/2031

Description

The Forestry NAMA provides a strategic framework to integratively implement forest mitigation actions with productive and ecological purposes, aligned with the national strategy. This framework will guide efforts and decision-making processes across levels, starting from the national vision of the territory down to the analysis of local conditions that will help determine specific intervention models. In addition, the Forestry NAMA aims to create enabling conditions to monitor, report, and verify the impact of mitigation actions, as well as to identify financing gaps and opportunities to close them (i.e., specific projects, resource reallocation, private sector involvement, among others)

Observations

The strategy “Bosques Territorios de Vida”, proposes actions against deforestation, degradation and associated GEI and promoting the management of forests upon an integral and sustainable approach for rural development. This will help to increase the quality of life of rural populations, as well as the local development and the ecosystem´s resilience against climate change effects (miti-gation and adaptation). To do so, the strategy propels an economy based on forest goods and services focused on an integral rural development and the brake of agricultural expansion.
