Description
The Strategic Project for the Establishment of Nurseries for the Multiplication of Forage Prickly Pear Cladodes in Arid Zones of Mexico seeks to establish an intensive productive model of forage prickly pear nurseries for the multiplication of cladodes (rackets and/or stalks) in the plots and for the direct benefit of cooperating producers in the eligible municipalities. The entities participating in this project are Chihuahua, Sonora, Zacatecas, the Laguna region, as well as Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas. The cactus represents an alternative feed for livestock, requiring a low investment in its agronomic management and contributing to the retention and recovery of degraded soils. The scheme contributes to the balanced feed for the livestock activity of small producers and their derivatives of dairy products and meat from the Laguna Region, Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Zacatecas.
