Description

National project financed through an agreement between Peru's Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation and FONDOEMPLEO to strengthen competitiveness, business associativity and market access among organized family-farming producers. The intervention will directly benefit 8,947 producers belonging to 154 agricultural organizations located in 54 provinces and 102 districts across 14 departments. During 36 months, the project will provide organizational strengthening, specialized technical assistance to improve agricultural production and management, commercial linkage with formal markets, and financial education and inclusion, seeking to increase producer incomes and improve the economic and organizational sustainability of participating associations.

Observations

In June 2026, MIDAGRI and FONDOEMPLEO signed a financing agreement for the project Strengthening Agribusiness Associativity of Organized Family-Farming Producers in 14 Departments of Peru for Improved Market Access. The intervention will directly benefit 8,947 producers belonging to 154 local family-farming organizations and indirectly benefit more than 30,000 members of rural households. The project has a 36-month implementation period and covers 54 provinces and 102 districts in Amazonas, Áncash, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Ica, Junín, Lima, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Piura, Puno and San Martín. Priority value chains include fruit, dairy products, Andean grains, pulses, cocoa, forest products, small livestock, tubers, legumes and South American camelids. Its main components are organizational strengthening, sustainable productivity through specialized technical assistance, commercial linkage with formal markets and financial inclusion through training and education. SENASA, INIA, SERFOR, AGROMERCADO and AGROIDEAS will participate through coordinated technical, commercial and financial services. Total investment amounts to PEN 53.7 million, consisting of PEN 44.9 million from FONDOEMPLEO and a PEN 8.8 million MIDAGRI counterpart contribution. Using the BCRP/SBS banking-system selling exchange rate of PEN 3.422 per US dollar on June 3, 2026, total financing is approximately USD 15,692,577.44.
