Description

The ENANDES+ Initiative (Enhancing Adaptive Capacity of Andean Communities through Climate Services) is a regional program led by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Adaptation Fund. Its objective is to strengthen the adaptive capacity of Andean communities to climate variability and change through the development and use of integrated climate services for disaster risk management, land-use planning, and food security. The initiative promotes cooperation among the national meteorological and hydrological services of Peru, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and other Andean countries, together with technical institutions and civil protection agencies. ENANDES+ aims to enhance the availability and accessibility of hydrometeorological information, build local capacities, and strengthen early warning systems, with a focus on the agricultural and water resources sectors. It is implemented as a multi-country and medium-term action, aligned with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015–2030), the Paris Agreement, and national policies on climate adaptation and risk management.
