Comprehensive use of mango in Colombia and Peru

Fecha de inicio: 2024
Fecha de fin: 2027

Description

The initiative seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of mango producers in Colombia and Peru through the comprehensive use of the fruit and the development of new products from its waste. With a 42-month duration and financial support from FONTAGRO, the project promotes technological innovation, added value, and waste reduction in the mango production chain. It will directly benefit 2,000 producers, as well as technicians, students, and local associations, contributing to sustainable agri-food production, the bioeconomy, and rural resilience.

Observations

While the project achieved technological progress in processing and post-harvest management, it faced limitations in linking to local and international markets, which reduced the sustained commercial impact for small-scale producers.
