(Es) (Ecuador) Forest conservation through sustainable supply chains project

The project advises the Ecuadorian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to improve the national conditions for deforestation-free supply chains and introduce long-term financing as an incentive for farmers to switch to deforestation-free production. It enters into agreements with the provincial governments of Manabí and Esmeraldas and local authorities to reduce deforestation and restore forest landscapes. Furthermore, the project promotes forest-friendly production and marketing along supply chains, such as for cocoa, timber, livestock, shrimp, and pitahaya, to reduce pressure on forest resources. For example, it supports farmers by improving market access for proven deforestation-free products.
