Description

National policy instrument to reduce deforestation and associated greenhouse gas emissions in the forest sector. It is structured around four strategic components (policies and institutional management, transition to sustainable production systems, sustainable forest management, and conservation and restoration) and five operational components (management of measures and actions, monitoring and reference level, safeguards, capacity development, and stakeholder engagement). Its target is to reduce gross emissions from deforestation by at least 20% by 2025 relative to the 2000-2008 reference level.
