Description

The project aims to support dialogue on agricultural sector policies and identify possible supports for its modernization. This project, requested by the Dominican Government, is carried out in coordination with the World Bank and under the leadership of the Vice Ministry of Planning of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development. It focuses on environmental sustainability, gender equality, productivity and innovation, and institutional capacity. The project evaluates existing supports and incentives and proposes a reorientation towards public goods and services to improve the efficiency of public spending. Prioritized value chains and their impact on food security and environmental sustainability will be analyzed. In addition, it will evaluate the institutional capacity of the sector, including the legal framework and institutional structure, identifying opportunities for reform to improve the efficiency of public spending and create an adequate framework to implement policies.
