Direct Support Program for the Creation of Rural Agri-Food Initiatives (CRIAR I)

Start Date: 24/05/2010
End Date: 31/12/2016

Description

The general objective of the Program is to improve the income of small rural producers of family, peasant, indigenous and community-based agriculture (AFC) in Bolivia, contributing to improving their food security. The specific objectives of the program are to increase the adoption rate of technologies that improve the yields and agri-food production of the AFC, and to support the development of community enterprises of the AFC oriented to agri-food production destined for markets. The program is structured in two main components. The first, conditional direct support for agri-food technologies, consists of providing financial subsidies to partially cover the costs of adopting technological innovations included in a menu of eligible options defined by the program. This support is provided in the form of non-refundable vouchers to eligible producers, on the condition that they adopt at least one of the selected technologies. The amounts of support will be subject to maximum limits per hectare, technology and producer, established in the Program's Operating Regulations. The second component, Support for the development of pilot community enterprises in rural food initiatives, offers support to develop community enterprises in areas such as production, processing, storage and coordination with the market.
