Description

The "Living Forests of Honduras" project is a collaboration between the Forest Conservation Institute (ICF), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the European Union (EU), with the objective of protecting and strengthening forest resources from Honduras. This project, financed with 16 million euros from the EU and executed in six years, seeks to mitigate climate change, stop the loss of biodiversity and improve the quality of life. Among its main activities, it includes the implementation of the Timber Legality Guarantee System, the reforestation of 20,000 hectares, the prevention of forest fires in 10,000 hectares, the development of ecotourism projects, innovation in the forestry sector and institutional strengthening. of the ICF and the Property Institute (IP). In addition, the project supports compliance with international agreements such as the Forest Alliance and the Voluntary Partnership Agreement for Forest Governance between the EU and Honduras.
