The project focuses on improving the governance of transboundary marine ecosystems in the Central American Integration System (SICA) region. This project seeks to promote environmental sustainability, economic prosperity and climate resilience through an integrated approach that protects marine and freshwater resources. The project's actions include the strengthening and harmonization of political and institutional frameworks to support the sustainable management of cross-border and national ecosystems and basins. Furthermore, an integrated management approach for water security and ecosystem stability will be developed in several key areas, adopting integrated management plans and water quality monitoring strategies. The project will also invest in innovative technologies that demonstrate and increase the potential to scale water recovery and efficiency, together with the establishment of sustainable financial mechanisms. It also includes the development of a robust system for managing knowledge and learning, which will include training and the development of technical capabilities through various educational programs and workshops.
