Green Grant Program in Brazil

The Programa Bolsa Verde was launched in 2011 and discontinued in 2016. It provided quarterly payments of R$ 300.00 to around 100,000 families in extreme poverty living in environmentally sensitive areas, mainly in the Amazon. In 2023, it was reinstated with a new quarterly payment of R$ 600.00. The program supports families living in Conservation Units and traditional territories, promoting sustainable use of natural resources and environmental preservation. In addition to payments, beneficiaries receive technical assistance and environmental conservation support.
