Agronomic research and innovation for irrigated rice cultivars in Central Provinces

Fecha de inicio: N/A
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

This project focuses on improving the competitiveness and sustainability of irrigated rice production in Panama, using advanced IDIAP varietal technology adapted to the specific needs of the crop at different phenological stages and irrigation conditions. By addressing inefficient cultivation practices and high dependence on agrochemicals, the project aims to optimize nutritional and management requirements, such as nitrogen doses and planting densities, for each variety. The aim is to provide growers with the tools and knowledge to carry out phenological precision agriculture, which will result in a more efficient use of resources and lower production costs. Dissemination of the results will be carried out through different platforms and events, including the publication of scientific articles and presence in social networks, thus ensuring that the technology reaches a broad spectrum of the agricultural community. Ultimately, the project will directly benefit 55 irrigated rice producers and indirectly benefit the remaining 45% of irrigated producers, as well as other actors in the rice agrifood chain in Panama.
