Native strains of NEPs and MBs for control of insect pests and pathogens

Fecha de inicio: N/A
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The project seeks to improve food sovereignty and environmental impact in Panama's agriculture by using native strains of entomopathogenic nematodes (NEPs) and beneficial microorganisms (MBs) for the biological control of pests and pathogens. The most effective strains among those collected will be identified and evaluated, reducing dependence on chemical pesticides and promoting more sustainable agricultural management. The project envisages the selection of at least three effective strains of each type for use on different crops, thus contributing to the conservation of agroecosystems. The results will be disseminated through extension activities such as field days and publications, seeking to facilitate the adoption of these technologies by producers. Finally, the project will support the education of researchers and the training of producers and technicians, consolidating a more sustainable and less polluting agriculture in the country.
