Description

The project focuses on the production of scientific knowledge about the biophysical and socioeconomic environment of the marine and coastal areas of Colombia. With a comprehensive approach, the project addresses everything from monitoring marine environmental quality, including aspects such as ocean acidification, marine litter and microplastics, to the generation of inputs for the restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems. In addition, it contemplates attention to marine-coastal environmental emergencies, the collection of vital information on corals, seagrasses and marine biodiversity, as well as the monitoring of artisanal and industrial fisheries. The project also places emphasis on the analysis of samples collected in various monitoring, using advanced methodologies to ensure the reliability of the analytical results.

This project is led by the Ministry of Environment, and the budget information corresponds to what is reported in the Investment Project Monitoring System (SPI) under BPIN 2017011000113..
