National strategic plan for environmental research (PENIA) 2021-2030 Colombia

The PENIA 2021-2030 was built with a participatory approach, involving a wide range of actors, and is proposed to be a dynamic and adaptable instrument, capable of responding to changes and future needs in environmental research. Its execution is designed to promote integration and articulation between different entities and scientific communities, both at the national and regional level, thus promoting progress towards more sustainable and equitable development in Colombia. The main objective of the PENIA is to guide and consolidate environmental research efforts in the country towards the resolution of priority problems and the strengthening of scientific knowledge for sustainability. It seeks to promote the generation, application and transfer of relevant and timely environmental knowledge that supports decision-making, the formulation of public policies and the implementation of effective actions for the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystems.
