Development of climate-resilient regional value chains that strengthen water ecosystem services and generate rural income in the trinational basin of the Lempa River in Trifinio

Start Date: 01/01/2023
End Date: 31/12/2025

Description

The project seeks to promote comprehensive, sustainable and inclusive human development in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, as part of the Master Plan. This includes the protection and management of the Lempa River and the improvement of the living conditions of its inhabitants. The project's actions are divided into four main components: introspective and prospective analysis for the design of pilot value chains for coffee, avocado and vegetables; the development of an innovation strategy that maximizes the contribution of these chains to the strengthening of water ecosystem services; strengthening capacities and developing regional mechanisms to promote value chains; and the definition of regional action plans to consolidate the prioritized chains, along with the communication and dissemination of the achievements achieved.
