Description

The Treaty between the Republics of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras for the Execution of the Trifinio Plan is a formalized agreement between these countries with the objective of implementing the Trifinio Plan, a comprehensive development project in the shared border region, called the Region of the Trifinio. The treaty seeks the sustainable development of the Region, improving the living conditions of its inhabitants and preserving biological wealth. A trinational institutional structure is established with administrative, financial, and technical autonomy, headed by the Trinational Commission. The Trifinio Plan encompasses programs, subprograms, projects and trinationally coordinated actions for the sustainable management of natural resources and the development of communities in this region. region. The treaty also includes provisions on financing stipulating that the governments of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras will contribute equally to the financial resources necessary for the operation of the institutional structure of the plan. Additionally, additional technical and financial cooperation is contemplated, including donations and non-refundable assistance.
