Construction of the NAMA in Bovine Livestock in El Salvador

The “Construction of the NAMA in Bovine Livestock in El Salvador” project is financed by the European Union through the AECID within the framework of the EUROCLIMA Program, and its purpose is to support the design of the NAMA and strengthen national capacities to achieve adaptation and mitigation goals towards low-emission cattle farming. The objective of the initiative is to increase resilience to the effects of climate change, the efficiency of bovine livestock production systems in relation to carbon and water, as well as food value chains, in accordance with sectoral commitments related to the NDCs of El Salvador, through the implementation of NAMAs. The action is based on the development of three main results, which will be implemented through a transversal line of capacity strengthening and knowledge management with public and private actors directly linked to the climate agenda in the bovine livestock chain. In accordance with the commitments defined in the NDC. Under these axes, it is proposed to increase the knowledge of technical teams and productive groups for the design and adoption of mitigation and/or adaptation practices in livestock farming. In addition, the framework is established to form key competencies in NAMA design and management, incorporating the development of knowledge management tools adapted to the beneficiaries' environments and the generation of horizontal knowledge exchanges between local and regional actors to promote the identification and application of good practices that strengthen the construction processes and subsequent implementation of the NAMA.
