Institutional Paradigm Shift The initiative moved from a sectoral and product-based approach to a more holistic one, aimed at strengthening livelihoods and food security. Inter-institutional coordination is essential for addressing complex agro-environmental issues. Link
Importance of Governance The formation of the inter-institutional Technical Committee was key to the project's success and sustainability. Institutional representatives with direct access to decision-makers are essential. Link
Participation and Consultation The participatory methodology (12 regional workshops, 4 national events with 560 participants) significantly enriched the normative products. The inclusion of diverse actors (civil society, private enterprise, academia, NGOs, women's and indigenous organizations) strengthened the legitimacy of the proposals. Link
Regional Cooperation The exchange of experiences with Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama, and Paraguay provided valuable lessons and best practices. South-South cooperation is effective for building capacity in agro-environmental policies. Link
Overcoming Risks Technical leadership and an agro-environmental approach provided citizen participation and overcame political limitations. Link
Gender Approach The promotion of balanced participation of women and men (69% men, 31% women) demonstrated the importance of gender inclusion in agro-environmental policies. Link
